Updating My Afghan Inventory for Cancer Patients

Over these past few winter months, I’ve been crocheting afghans like crazy.

I have a lot of new afghans for cancer patients, that I like the call Blankets of Hope.

You may be a cancer patient yourself, purchasing for a cancer patient, or simply someone who would like to have a homemade afghan like their grandmother would make to keep them warm and have some of the proceeds go towards cancer research & patient outreach.

Nonetheless, I will be posting each new afghan available that’s been made by me with love, with a photo and a description along with a button to purchase that afghan.

I do hope you enjoy my creative work. I know it’s a hobby, but I take it quite seriously because these blankets mean a lot to cancer patients like me. I am now a 6 year breast cancer survivor, and it feels good to be alive. It’s something near and dear to my heart, as I lost my husband to another type of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer and little research is done to find the cure.

For those people that have gone before me to raise much needed funds and awareness for my cancer, I’m giving back.

Buying Yarn for Craft Projects: Crocheting

There are times I go to various local stores for my yarn for afghan and craft projects.

However, this way of shopping for craft supplies can be pricey.

Once you find a yarn you enjoy to use, i.e. the thickness, color, feel, etc, make sure you write down the brand name and other identifying information about it.

A problem you could have with starting a crocheted project is that you must have enough yarn to finish it too. What if you run out of yarn and the store you bought it from runs out (or you buy them out)?

If you wrote down that important information, you are able to order it online from craft suppliers.

I tend to use a lot of pinks, purples, blues, and whites. So, I often would buy the stores out with their limited supplies.

So, in order to get your yarn for cheaper prices, as much as you want of it, and the colors you like, try buying online.

Introducing: Ingrid’s Homemade Crocheted Afghans – Blankets

I learned to crochet from my mother – passed down from generation to generation, starting back in Europe.

I have been crocheting by hand to provide you with a beautiful, custom, handmade item perfect for any occasion to show people how much you care, all done by Ingrid – that’s me!

I specialize in baby blankets, throws, and larger sized blankets and the like.

They are perfect for a hope chest for a bride or parents-to-be, or simply to show someone you care!

Send your college student some love from home with an afghan made from yarn of their school colors or favorite sports team.

What’s very close to my heart are my Pink Blankets of Hope created for Cancer Patients, especially those with Breast Cancer, to keep them warm during their treatments, traveling to and from appointments and for those chills at home.

Why is this so important to Me?
I am 3 1/2 year breast cancer survivor. Also, I’ve lost one of my sisters to what initially began as breast cancer. Plus, my husband was taken by a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma.

I’ve been in the fight against cancer and know, not only how appreciative I was as a cancer patient to have people visit me and encourage me during the entire ordeal, but also how important it is to take joy in the small things that can make you happy during that time – like a simple, warm blanket made of beautiful colors from someone who put love into it!

Why are They Called “Blankets of Hope“?
Well, since I am a Breast Cancer Survivor, what better encouragement is it to someone with breast cancer, or any other type of cancer, than from a cancer survivor!

Plus, the afghans created for the Blankets of Hope line are all made with pink yarn – some are completely pink, some simply have pink in them because the Pink Ribbon is the symbol for Breast Cancer – let’s make it a symbol of Hope & Love too!

Every single afghan is made with love by yours truly!

You may simply purchase an Afghan I’ve already created or you can order a blanket in whatever color(s) you desire.

* Please Note: I love to make afghans with beautiful, vibrant colors – i.e. It’s difficult for my eyes to make an afghan in all black, for example.
